Jay Caruthers reminds us that more than the Executive Branch of government is on the line in this election. The next President may appoint up to five of them:
John Paul Stevens (Liberal) = 92 years oldRuth Bader Ginsberg (Liberal) = 79 years oldAntonin Scalia (Conservative) = 76 years oldAnthony Kenedy (Moderate-Conservative) = 76 years oldSteven Bryer (Liberal) = 74 years old
If they retire or pass away, they will be replaced by whoever is President on January 21, 2013.
Barack Obama is guaranteed to replace them with Liberals, like Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan…And without having to worry about running again he’ll probably shoot for even more radical Liberal candidates.
