I don’t think it was a big surprise when the NY Times “leaked” information (from dozens of named White House sources) on the level of President Obama’s involvement in the “secret” drone killing program. What did come as a shock to many of us who follow national security matters was the big reveal that the Stuxnet and other viruses were developed by the US and Israel as a way of thwarting Iran’s nuclear ambitions. Admitting to that put our national security at risk. And for what? As an election ploy for President Obama, or so says John McCain:
“This is the most highly classified information and it’s now been leaked by the administration at the highest levels at the White House and that’s not acceptable,” McCain said on CBS “This Morning.” …
McCain suggested that the administration was leaking the information, which he called a “breach of national security,” to bolster Obama’s foreign-policy credentials ahead of November’s election.
“It makes the president look very decisive,” McCain said, “and it gives very little credit to the other men and women who make these things happen.”
Decisive. Right. The guy who says deciding when life begins is “above his paygrade”.
